Gestalt therapy is an experiential approach to learning about oneself, and about oneself in relationship. Gestalt helps people to not only think about what is happening, but also feel what is happening. The goal is for people to gain awareness of what they are doing, how they are doing it, and what they can do to create their desired change, all while learning to value, accept, and have compassion for themselves. As a Gestalt therapist I believe that each client I meet is working toward wholeness and is doing the best job they can do in regard to living their life. People may feel fragmented, or just not satisfied with different aspects of their lives, so they turn to Gestalt Therapy to help heal these parts and integrate them back into the whole. In Gestalt, the client is able to create the goals and change that they want.
